Congrats to Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed! They’re expecting their first child.
The couple announced the happy news in a pair of Instagram posts on Thursday, in which Ian is pictured giving Nikki’s belly a heartfelt kiss.
Nikki captioned the shot with a touching letter, expressing her amazement at the connection she feels with their soon-to-be little one.
“How is it possible to love someone so much already? All I know for sure is it’s the strongest feeling I’ve ever felt. We’ve been sharing this body for quite some time, and we’ve already experienced so much together. We can’t wait to meet you,” she wrote, adding the sweet sign-off, “Your parents.”
Ian shared similar enthusiasm and wonderment on his own page, telling followers that he’s already overcome with the joy of fatherhood.
“In my 38 years on this earth I’ve never experienced anything more powerful and beautiful than this. I can’t think of anything more exciting than this next chapter and we wanted you to hear this from us first,” he wrote.
While a due date has yet to be revealed, Nikki’s growing bump indicates that they’ve been able to keep their bundle of joy under wraps for some time. Ian explained that it was important to him, Nikki and their baby-to-be to bond as a family before taking the news public.
“This has been the most special time of our lives and we wanted to keep it between the three of us for as long as possible so we could enjoy this time with each other and our little one who is growing so fast…because that’s what they do, they grow so fast,” he added. “Thank you for your kind energy.”
The pair’s exciting milestone comes on the heels of another joyous occasion. Last month, they each shared touching and romantic social media tributes to one another in honor of their second wedding anniversary.
