Understandably, Soundgarden will no longer be headlining this weekend’s Rock On The Range music festival Friday night in Columbus, Ohio.
Instead, there will be a special tribute to the band’s lead singer, the late Chris Cornell.
While no exact plans have been announced, this is an especially quick turnaround considering the 52-year-old singer was tragically found dead in his Detroit hotel room early Thursday morning.
TMZ reports all other bands will perform as scheduled, and Live will also honor Chris during their prime time set.
The band’s rep said of the rocker:
“His voice and lyrics came from a deep and spiritual place and their power will be felt forever.”
Meanwhile, concertgoers have been evacuated from the venue and told to return to their vehicles due to severe weather, according to the event’s Facebook page:
Doors should hopefully reopen soon. We’ll keep you posted as to what comes of the tribute.
