Maybe the rats wanted to try their new desserts??

Earlier this week, several diners at a Chipotle Mexican Grill in Dallas, Texas claimed they saw rodents fall from the restaurant’s ceiling where the vermin then crawled around the floors.

As seen on Twitter:

Customer Daniela Ornelas told NBC DFW:

“If we would have been sitting at the table next to that it definitely would have fell on top of our food because it was literally right there… I just kept wondering what it was, and I kept looking around until I looked at the floor, and I saw three rats, and I ran.”

On Wednesday, a Chipotle representative released the following statement, calling it “an extremely isolated and rare incident.”

“We learned yesterday that mice got into a restaurant and we immediately contacted professionals who identified a small structural gap in the building as the likely access point. We’re having it repaired. Additionally, we reached out to the customer to make things right. This is an extremely isolated and rare incident and certainly not anything we’d ever want our customers to encounter.”

Sadly, this isn’t the first controversy the chain has faced in recent days.

On Tuesday, a Chipotle in Sterling, Virginia closed its doors after more than a dozen customers experienced nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration after dining on Friday and Saturday of last week. Executive Director of Food Safety Jim Marsden told Business Insider “the reported symptoms are consistent with norovirus.”

As you may recall, in 2015 the company suffered norovirus, E. coli, and Salmonella outbreaks at various locations, causing the entire chain to close its doors for a few hours on February 8, 2016 to teach its employees about food safety.

Maybe they need a refresher? Meanwhile we’ll be over here vomiting because EEWWWWWWWWW!
