Chester Bennington‘s family and closest friends have opted for privacy in this very emotional time, holding a private Saturday afternoon memorial service to remember the Linkin Park member after his suicide by hanging last week.
The event took place near Bennington’s home in Palos Verdes, California, with a few hundred people — limited to family and friends — attending the memorial service.
Police provided tight security at the event, and family members did not want videos or pictures taken there.
Fans have been organizing memorials around the globe for the frontman, but were not involved with the private ceremony yesterday in California.
According to reports, a full stage, including a drum kit, was set up at the funeral and several musical tributes were performed.
Additionally, all funeral attendees were given wrist bands and an access pass — just like what you might see in a VIP pass at a Linkin Park concert.
Above all, it was no doubt a very emotional day for Bennington’s family and friends.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who knew and loved him during this unimaginable time of need.
