Angelina Jolie is shedding light on one of the world’s darkest times.

In the trailer released by Netflix on Wednesday for First They Killed My Father — co-written and based on the memoir by Loung Ung — we see a young Cambodian girl’s happy childhood interrupted by the genocide that began in 1975 during the Khmer Rouge regime.
