George A. Romero has died after a battle with lung cancer at the age of 77.

The legendary filmmaker — who is best known for his horror films including Night Of The Living Dead, Dawn Of The Dead, Day Of The Dead, and more — passed away in his sleep on Sunday surrounded by his loved ones.

According to the LA Times, Romero died while listening to the score of one his favorite films, The Quiet Man.
