John McCain is in no way alone during this tough time.

As you’ve likely heard, the celebrated Arizona senator has been diagnosed with brain cancer after undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot just above his left eye. Sadly, the former presidential hopeful is battling glioblastoma, which is the most aggressive form of brain cancer.

Nonetheless, McCain’s loved ones and peers have rallied around the American hero — something his wife, Cindy McCain, is so grateful for. Mrs. McCain made sure to thank everyone on Wednesday as she took to Instagram and shared:

Thank all of you for the wonderful thoughts. @senjohnmccain is doing well. We as a family will face the next hurdle together. One thing I do know is he is the toughest person I know. He is my hero and I love him with all my heart.A post shared by Cindy McCain (@cindymccain) on Jul 19, 2017 at 9:05pm PDT

What a beautiful sentiment. In case you were unaware, the McCains have quite the love story as they’ve been together ever since they met at a military reception in Hawaii in 1979. Of course, before they could get married, John had to divorce his first wife, Carol Shepp.

Despite the controversy, the duo have been dedicated to each other over the course of their lengthy marriage! AH-Mazing.

Our thoughts are with the entire McCain clan during this challenging situation.
