This is just horribly tragic.

As you’ve likely heard, Linkin Park‘s Chester Bennington was discovered dead on Thursday after killing himself via hanging. The Numb singer’s suicide was made even more heartbreaking upon the realization that he took his own life on what would’ve been his close friend Chris Cornell‘s 53rd birthday.

In case you forgot, the grunge rock god also committed suicide via hanging as he was discovered back in May. Oh man.

And it appears as though the parallels between the two deaths are so uncanny, that it’s believed Chester mimicked the Soundgarden rocker’s suicide. According to TMZ‘s law enforcement sources, the A-lister was found hanging from a door separating his bedroom from his closet.

This methodology is almost identical to the way the Black Hole Sun artist killed himself. As we previously reported, Cornell was found hanging from a hotel door separating the bedroom from the bathroom.

But the similarities don’t stop there, as it’s said, Bennington died with a belt around his neck — like the way Cornell was found with an exercise band around his throat. Both Chester and Chris left this world without penning suicide notes.

While no drugs were discovered at the scene, sources claim there was a partially empty bottle of alcohol in the room where Bennington died. What a tragic situation.
